All buildings must be sustainable in the future. This means that they must use the minimum of resources as possible both in terms of material and energy. Any resource input in terms of building materials and energy should largely be from renewable resources. This will mean radical changes in design and construction methods. greenwash and tokenism should be avoided and thus alternatives must be fully explored and debated so that the architects of the future are able to fully integrate these requirements rather than bolting them on.
